A tractor-trailer hauling Duraflame fireplace logs rolled over Wednesday night on Interstate 80 near Summit Park, causing serious injuries to the driver and a passenger.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said at about 9:20 p.m. the driver of a semi traveling east on Interstate 80 in Summit County lost control after swerving to try to avoid hitting some wood in the road that fell from a truck in front of it. The semi crossed over to opposing traffic and rolled. There was a small fuel leak after the crash, but it was quickly cleaned up. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The female driver of the semi suffered serious injuries, according to Johnson. A male passenger in the semi also suffered serious injuries, but neither were expected to be life-threatening.

The truck that lost its load was stopped a few miles down the road. The investigation is ongoing.
