Smoked ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket are year-round favorites, but when the weather gets warm, our 'cue meter really kicks into high gear. Here are a few Utah restaurants that offer the smoky, meaty goodness we love.

Kaiser's Bar B-Q and General Store • Part folk museum, part metal art gallery, this unassuming restaurant is all barbecue, and meat takes center stage.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue • Here's one facet to American cuisine: fast food, Hawaiian-style, with huge portions, affordable prices and lots of meat.

Liquor • None

Recommended • Short ribs, crunchy chicken katsu, kalua and lau lau, Loco Moco.

Moon Dog's Cafe • Home-style cookin', including some good ribs and Utah scones, offered in a casual setting.

Recommended • Special "snapple" omelet, Moon Doggie baked beans, brisket, ribs.

Pat's Barbecue & Catering Co. • Seriously good barbecue, especially "burnt ends" at lunch on Fridays. Live music most nights.

Pitmaster BBQ House • This fast-casual joint has a few kinks to work out, but offers ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, Colosimo sausages, tips and ridiculously good burnt ends.

Soul & Bones • This Southern-style speakeasy serves respectable Cajun and barbecue fare.

Sugarhouse Barbecue Company • Memphis-style smoked pork ribs are the signature dish, but the smoke gives just about everything else an addictive boost.

Terrapin Station Barbeque Co. • From jerky and nuts to a sit-down barbecue establishment, Terrapin continues its ambitious plan to bring barbecue to the east side.
