West Valley City • The Mountain View Corridor eventually will run along the western periphery of Salt Lake County and northwest Utah County, serving 13 municipalities to meet projected transportation demands in the year 2030.

But the freeway is routed through half of the parking lot of the state's premium outdoor venue Usana Amphiptheatre, which forced United Concerts to make alternate plans for traffic headed to and out of the amphitheater during its 10th season.

Three new parking lots will be open and ready for the first concert of the season, the Scorpions' "Final Sting" tour on June 11.

One lot will be southwest of the amphitheater, with a walkway from the lot directly to the front gate. Two other lots have been added southeast of the amphitheater, with another walkway that will lead fans to a newly constructed second box office.

In addition, the lot for carpools (with at least four people in a car) and those paying for premium parking has been moved closer to the front gate, with a separate entrance and exit.

If all goes as planned, the alternate arrangements for parking might — gasp — make ingress and egress out of the lots easier than in years past, when at times it seemed as if you could walk back to your home quicker than make your way out of the parking lots.

Wow. A quicker way out. That's about as surprising as the top ticket price for Ringo Starr's upcoming concert, at $58, being lower than the top ticket price for Big Time Rush and most other Usana Amphitheatre concerts (with the exception of the Australian Pink Floyd).

He's a Beatle!
