Throughout the month of August, Tribune writers will taste their way through some of Utah's finest frozen confections including ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt and shave ice, or any other sweet treat that will help us beat the heat and satisfy a sugar rush. Today's pick:

Aggie blue mint ice cream • Utah don't have be a graduate of Utah state University in Logan to love this mint-flavored ice cream with pieces of Oreo cookies and white chocolate mixed in.

Shop talk • Utah State University is one of 15 colleges nationwide that make its own ice cream for students, alumni and devoted fans. Aggie Blue Mint is the number one seller, out-pacing vanilla 3 to 1. The second most popular flavor is Aggie Bull Tracks, named after the school mascot, which contains peanut butter cups and a caramel swirl.
