Unified Police on Monday identified the 1-year-old boy killed when he was thrown from his father's motorcycle as Richard Moore.

Richard was riding with his father, Shannon Moore, 48, about 2:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the family's apartment, 4521 Bridgeside Way, said Unified Police Detective Levi Hughes.

As the two approached the apartment basketball courts, the father accelerated and lost control as he attempted to turn a corner.

Richard, who was seated between his father and the gas tank in the front of the bike, was flung from the bike. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Hughes said the incident would be presented to prosecutors to screen once the investigation is complete.
