Dixie State College has hired Chris Pfatenhauer, a former assistant baseball coach at Nevada, as the Red Storm's head coach.

Dixie State is coming off its first appearance in the NCAA Division II West Regional. Pfatenhauer replaces Mike Littlewood, who left to take over as BYU's head coach.

Pfatenhauser, a Las Vegas native, previously worked as an assistant at Chico State, in California.

Westminster 3, Southern Oregon 2 • In Ashland, Ore., Ashley Marchant had 15 kills and 15 digs as the Griffins beat the hosts of the Paul Elliott Invitational, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 15-10.

Viterbo 3, Westminster 1 • The Griffins' three-match, season-opening win streak was snapped by the Wisconsin school, 25-22, 35-33, 19-25, 25-22.
