This appearance is the start of their European tour, which is the first they have made outside of the United States. The choir will tour Britain and seven European countries before returning home by the way of Paris, Sept. 18. Dr. J. Spencer Cornwall conducts the choir."

The original caption on this photo from Sept. 18, 1955, says: "Last night, in the huge auditorium of the Palace of Chaillot, Paris, an audience of almost 300 heard a magnificent concert presented by the Mormon Choir of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. Extensive arrangements were made for this single performance and the 379 singers made it well worth while. From the repertoire of 700 works they selected a balanced programme ranging from grand and serious oratorios to familiar songs and ballads. The composition of the choir is similarly wide with ages ranging from 18 to 80 and the amateurs drawn from all walks of life - from bankers to postmen."
