KUTV has announced several changes to its daytime lineup, including making the weekday-morning newscast longer and adding Saturday- and Sunday-morning shows.
Here's the quick rundown:
• As of Monday, Sept. 1, "2News This Morning" will begin at 4:30 a.m., not 5 a.m.
Nothing against Ron Bird and Mary Nickles, but I sure hope I'm not awake at 4:30 a.m. on Monday.
• On Saturday, Sept. 15, KUTV re-enters the weekend early morning news arena with a 7-8 a.m. edition of "2News This Morning." The Sunday edition debuts a day later at the same time.
Again, sort of hoping I'm not awake that early on the weekend.
• With an eye toward boosting the ratings of its noon newscast, KUTV is flopping a couple of game shows on its schedule. As of Monday, Sept. 10, "Let's Make a Deal" will air at 9 a.m., while the stronger show, "The Price Is Right," will move to 11 a.m.
Not really anything to get upset about, but I'm betting KUTV will get some calls from irate "Price Is Right" fans on Monday morning.
• Also on Monday, Sept. 10, "The Ricki Lake Show" debuts at 3 p.m.
Had a chance to chat with Ricki a few weeks ago, and this show certainly could work. It's supposed to be a kinder, gentler, more grown-up version of the show she hosted from 1993-2004. We'll see.
