BYU will play host to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders during the 2013 football season and travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for a game against MTSU in 2014, according to a report in The Tennessean newspaper today. The home-and-home agreement has been signed, according to the paper, but BYU has yet to make a formal announcement. The schools have never met. No dates have been announced for the series. MTSU is a member of the Sun Belt Conference and plays its home games at Johnny Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro."When (BYU) went independent (after being in the Mountain West Conference), they were looking for games, and I've always thought they had a national following," MTSU athletic director Chris Massaro told the Tennessean. "So I am very excited about that home-and-home series."BYU can schedule 13 games in 2013 because it is traveling to Hawaii (Dec. 7) for a game. Adding MTSU gives the Cougars 10 known games. They will host Texas, Boise State, Utah, Georgia Tech and MTSU. They will play at Utah State, Houston, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Hawaii. It is not clear yet whether BYU will return the game it owes Washington State in 2013, or later. Coach Bronco Mendenhall said he didn't know for sure when asked about it a few days before WSU visited LaVell Edwards Stadium in late August.
