A man who was riding his bike downtown Thursday night remains in critical condition after he was struck by a car while passing through an intersection.

The Salt Lake City Police Department said the man was weaving through cars stopped at a red light on 200 South when he went through the intersection at 300 West. A car that had a green light then hit the cyclist. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police Detective Josh Ashdown said Friday that the man remained in critical condition but was stable and will likely recover. Police have not yet identified the man. Ashdown said he wasn't sure whether the cyclist was wearing a helmet. Ashdown also said the cyclist may be cited for running a red light.
