The BYU women's basketball team lost 71-65 in Boston to the Crimson, falling to 2-2 on the season. Kim Parker Beeston put up 19 points with a team-high six rebounds for BYU. Lexi Eaton, who has scored in double digits in every game this season — added 17 points.

Montana State - Billings 74, Dixie State 71 • A late rally fell short for the Red Storm, who lost in St. George. Three Dixie State players scored in double digits, but shot only 37.5 percent in a slow first half.

Men's basketball

Westminster 85, Walla Walla, 44 • The Griffins held their opponent to just 13 first-half points in their rout in Caldwell, Idaho. Blake Skidmore led Westminster with 18 points and four rebounds to go along with four steals.

Salt Lake Community College 84, Casper College 76 • The Bruins beat their No. 11-ranked opponent in Casper, Wyo., led by freshman forward Casey Oliverson's 18 points.

Women's volleyball

Utah 3, Arizona State 1 • The Utes took down their Pac-12 opponent 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 26-24 in Tempe, Ariz., with three players tallying double digits in kills. Chesley Schofield and Morgan Odale each had their fifth double-double of the season. Utah outhit Arizona State .278 to .178.

Utah Valley 3, University of Texas-Pan American 0 • The Wolverines swept their Great West Conference semifinal match, beating UTPA 25-12, 25-20, 25-17 in Orem. Brookelyn Hall had six kills and a game-high 33 assists for UVU, which trailed only once in the match.

Swimming and diving

Utah's men's and women's teams both sit in third place after the first day of the Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. Utah's Bence Kira'ly broke the school record in the 500 free with a time of 4:23.22.
