Utah Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey labels it "Jazz DNA," summarizing character traits and basketball skills that fit into the franchise's culture.

Three current NBA players and several other notable athletes have Jazz DNA as sons and daughters of former Jazz players. Here are The Salt Lake Tribune's updated rankings of ex-Jazzmen, based on what their children have done athletically:

No. 1 • Dell Curry

Stephen Curry, a two-time league MVP with Golden State, is joined in the NBA by his brother, Seth, who plays for Dallas. Their sister, Sydel, played volleyball for Elon College in North Carolina. Dell Curry played one season (1986-87) as the Jazz's first-round draft pick before being traded to Cleveland, where Steph Curry was born in 1988.

No. 2 • Karl Malone

In addition to LSU offensive tackle Karl Malone Jr., this ranking credits Karl Malone as the father of former WNBA star Cheryl Ford and her twin brother, Daryl, who also played basketball for Louisiana Tech. Malone has a relationship with them.

No. 3 • Corey Crowder

The phrase "Jazz DNA" would have been heard even more frequently this summer if the team had completed a trade for Jae Crowder, a Boston Celtics forward. Corey Crowder played in 51 games for the Jazz in 1991-92, when the team reached the Western Conference finals for the first time. Jae Crowder has scored 18 and 21 points in wins over the Jazz in the past three seasons. As a Marquette player, he posted 25 points and 12 rebounds against BYU in a 2012 NCAA Tournament victory.

No. 4 • John Stockton

Five of Stockton's six children (the youngest is a high school junior) have played college sports, including two Division I women's basketball players. Former Gonzaga guard David Stockton appeared briefly with the Sacramento Kings in 2014-15.

No. 5 • Brett Vroman

Brett Vroman, a Provo High School graduate, played in 11 games for the Jazz as a center in 1980-81. His son, the late Jackson Vroman, appeared in 87 games for Phoenix and New Orleans in the NBA.

No. 6 • Thurl Bailey

Bailey's daughter BreElle is a volleyball player who has transferred from Arizona State to North Carolina State for her senior year. His son Brendan intends to play basketball for Marquette after returning from a church mission. Thurl Bailey Jr., a son from his first marriage, played for St. Andrews University, an NAIA school in North Carolina.

No. 7 • Ron Boone

Remembered as a Utah Stars mainstay, Boone also played for the Jazz. His son, JaRon, was a Skyline High School star and is the No. 7 scorer in Nebraska history.

No. 8 • Adam Keefe

His twin daughters, Caitlin and Michaela, were publicized arrivals in January 1998, at the height of the Jazz's success. They have followed Keefe's wife, former Olympian Kristin Klein, as Stanford volleyball players.

No. 9 • Adrian Dantley

Dantley's son, Cameron, became Syracuse's starting quarterback in 2008, when the former walk-on helped beat Louisville by throwing two touchdown passes.

No. 10 • Pace Mannion

The former University of Utah player is the father of guard Nico Mannion, one of the country's top basketball recruits in the class of 2020. The subject of a major story in Sports Illustrated, Nico Mannion plays for Pinnacle High School in the Phoenix area.
