Can we destroy this assertion that economic activity and the economy as a whole are more important than the planet's ecosystem?
This recent campaign was stacked with rhetoric and promises about energy, but with absolutely no dialogue on environmental considerations or realities. We need to preserve as much wildlife as possible and stop polluting our planet.
Sometimes capitalists need to be checked. Capitalism is a framework that ensures personal opportunities and potential for financial freedom. It needs to be kept in its proper place within the larger framework of human integrity and society's guiding values.
Capitalism is but one pillar in the whole structure of modern human existence. It is not as important as the natural world, the wildlife and the diverse ecosystems with which we share this planet.
If the wisdom of conservation had never entered the mind of man, we would have no old-growth forests, no Yosemite or Yellowstone, no grizzly bears or bald eagles. These natural wonders are protected for all American generations, instead of exploited and converted into capital for one generation's personal gain.
