Owls are not nearly as mysterious as they are made out to be.
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, Friends of the Bear River Refuge and the Ogden Nature Center have teamed up to unravel the mysteries of night raptors during a special free event Jan. 12.
Owl Day is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge west of Brigham City. Refuge staff and volunteers will be leading games and craft activities throughout the day and owls from the Ogden Nature Center will be on hand at 11 a.m.
Movies about owls will be shown at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, 2155 W. Forest St., is one block west of Interstate 15 at Exit 363. The Wildlife Education Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
The Auto Tour Loop in the refuge is open from sunrise to sunset throughout the year.
