Real Salt Lake earned its first victory of the team's preseason slate, topping the defending champions L.A. Galaxy 1-0 at Home Depot Center on Friday.

Midfielder Ned Grabavoy slotted home a Kenny Mansally pass in the first half for what would be the scrimmage's lone goal.

RSL lost scrimmages earlier in the preseason to the Danish U-20 team and UC Irvine. But with a lineup heavy on starters, Salt Lake prevailed.

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando recorded a first-half shutout and former Galaxy keeper Josh Saunders, currently on trial with RSL, preserved the clean sheet.
