A snowboarder died Wednesday night at Brighton Ski Resort.

A skier was going down the slopes when he saw a 26-year-old snowboarder wrapped up in a tree about 8 p.m., said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The skier tried to talk to the snowboarder to see what was wrong, but he wasn't responding, so the skier called for help.

Ski patrol brought the snowboarder down to the resort clinic and while emergency responders "worked feverishly" to revive him, they couldn't, Hoyal said.

Police are waiting to identify the snowboarder until his next of kin know of his death first. His body will be taken to the state medical examiner for an autopsy to determine why he died.
