Box Elder County law officers want the public's help in putting an end to a rash of structure vehicle arson fires in the area of Bear River High School.

Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance said Thursday that he and officers in neighboring Garland believe that three blazes over the past two weeks — two of them in which vehicles were burned — were set by the same person or persons.

"We're just asking residents of Tremonton and Garland to keep alert for anything out of the ordinary," Nance said. "All these fires have been early in the morning, between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m."

Thursday morning police and firefighters responded to a fire that destroyed a Jeep parked behind Rudd's Funeral Home in Garland. On Tuesday, a truck parked on a street in Tremonton went up in flames, and last week someone set alight a shed near the high school.

"These fires have all been within a few blocks of the high school," Nance said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Tremonton police at 435-257-9553 or Garland police at 435-257-3131.
