On Thursday, two seasoned suburban mayors announced their plans to seek re-election.

Midvale Mayor JoAnn Seghini will run for a fifth term as her city's so-called "part-time" leader. The tireless septuagenarian said she spends up to 60 hours a week representing the Salt Lake County city of about 28,000 people.

"I provide full-time service for part-time salary," Seghini told The Tribune. "I'm retired and am able to do that."

A statement Thursday said that the longtime educator will campaign as "A Voice for MIdvale," speaking up for her constituents as she serves on several boards and councils throughout the state.

Cottonwood Heights Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore is running for a third term steering the city he's led since its 2005 incorporation. When not performing his role as "part-time" mayor, Cullimore works as chief executive officer of the publicly-traded Dynatronics Corporation.

As with Seghini, Cullimore believes his years of experience on various decision-making boards that affect the future of Cottonwood Heights increase his value as an advocate for the city he helped launch.

The filing period for municipal offices runs from June 3 to 7.
