A 33-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg on Tuesday during firearm training in Utah County.

Ryker Defense, a personal defense training company based out of Arlington, Va., was providing private training Tuesday morning at the Firearms Application Response Management facility in Fairfield. The man put the gun back in its holster when it went off, according to a Utah County Sheriff's Office news release.

The bullet hit just above his right knee and exited above his right ankle, the release adds.

Someone called for help about 9:23 a.m. and the man was taken in an ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray with the non-life threatening injury.
