Real Salt Lake's Yordany Alvarez will be suspended for his tackle on New York Red Bull Tim Cahill.
RSL defender Nat Borchers said in a Thursday interview on the team-owned ESPN 700 that Alvarez would be suspended three weeks for a first-half tackle Saturday that could keep Cahill out for a month with a leg injury. The Salt Lake Tribune has confirmed a suspension will keep Alvarez out of Saturday's rivalry game against the Colorado Rapids. But, according to a source, the number of games Alvarez will miss has not yet been made official.
Appeals of MLS Disciplinary Committee decisions are typical, and that is likely the hold up with Alvarez.
An official decision was expected to be made Friday.
