Fashion Place said Friday its Dillard's anchor will build a 200,000-square-foot store in the former Sears building on the south end of the Murray mall.

The new store will be 20,000 square feet larger than the existing Dillard's, Fashion Place said.

Demolition is set to begin this fall and the existing Dillard's will remain open during construction of the new store. The company did not announce when it expected the new store to open nor Fashion Place say it had a tenant for Dillard's current space.

John Bergstrom, senior vice president of anchor leasing for mall owner General Growth Properties Inc., said the Dilliard's project is part of the mall's expansion and refurbishing that has included a new Nordstrom and a new wing.

"Once the Dillard's relocation is complete, we can commence on the redevelopment of the north end of the center," he said.
