NBA • All-Star forward Paul George and the Indiana Pacers agreed Tuesday to a long-term contract, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. Terms were not immediately available, but he is eligible for a five-year deal worth between $80 million to $90 million, depending on the salary cap.

George's rookie deal was set to expire after next season and the 23-year-old almost certainly would have been one of most attractive players on the free-agent market. Last season, George averaged career highs of 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

• Two people with knowledge of the plans say the 2015 NBA All-Star weekend will be split between two New York arenas, with Madison Square Garden to host the game. Barclays Center in Brooklyn will host the Saturday skills events. New Orleans will host the 2014 game.

Venus rises over Azarenka in Tokyo

Tennis • Venus Williams upset top-seeded Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday to advance to the third round of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. In her first appearance in the Tokyo tournament since 2009, The 60th-ranked Williams took advantage of six-double faults by Azarenka at Ariake Colosseum. Azarenka said after the match that she wasn't well and hadn't been able to practice for three days.

America's Cup tied with one race left

sailing • The longest America's Cup in history will come down to two 72-foot, space-age catamarans making a final sprint around San Francisco Bay, on a five-leg course framed by the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. Skipper Jimmy Spithill and defending champion Oracle Team USA saw to that by extending their winning streak to seven on Tuesday to force a winner-take-all finale against Emirates Team New Zealand. The 19th race is scheduled for Wednesday, weather permitting.

Oracle came through a wild start with two collisions to win Race 17, and then sped past the Kiwis after they made a tactical error to give up the lead in Race 18. All but defeated a week ago, Oracle Team USA tied the faltering Kiwis 8-8 by winning its 10th race overall. Oracle was docked two points for illegally modifying boats in warm-up regattas.
