Personally, I kind of like Welcome to the Family (Thursday, 7:30 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5). I think a lot of people will kind of like it.That's not exactly the description of a new hit, though, is it?"Family" is a sitcom about two families that are, uncomfortably, being forced to become one.Miguel (Ricardo A. Chavira, "Desperate Housewives") and Lisette (Justina Machado) are the proud parents of Junior (Joseph Haro), who's graduating from high school as the valedictorian and is headed straight to Stanford.Dan (Mike O'Malley, "Glee") and Caroline (Mary McCormack, "Line of Sight") are the relieved parents of Molly (Ella Rae Peck), who barely graduated from high school and is headed to the one big party that is Arizona State. What the parents don't know is that Junior and Molly are a couple. What Junior doesn't know - until Molly texts him during his valedictory speech - is that he's gotten his girlfriend pregnant. No, Molly isn't cruel. She's just, well, dumb. A likable airhead who doesn't know the difference between patriarchal and patriotic, among other things.Molly is going to have this baby. Junior is going to be there to support her. And two families will unite, even though Dan and Miguel take an instant disliking to each other. It's not exactly original. There are laughs, but it's not hilarious. That said, I like "Welcome to the Family." I like the actors, I like the characters. It feels comfortable.I'll watch it again. I'm not sure I'll have a whole lot of company.
