A man reportedly was shot Wednesday night in South Salt Lake.

Pioneer Valley Hospital alerted police about 8 p.m. that a shooting victim had been brought to the emergency room, said South Salt Lake police Lt. Ron Lance.

Hospital staff learned the man had been shot near 3300 South and 200 East, Lance said. As of 11:15 p.m., detectives were searching the area for evidence of the shooting.

The victim's condition was not known.
