A 52-year-old man died Thursday while working at a meat-packing plant in Draper.
About 10:54 a.m., Camacho Guillermo Borcequin was operating a skid-steer loader at the back of Smith and Sons Meat Packing Co., 12450 S. Pony Express Road in Draper, according to Maridene Hancock, spokeswoman for Draper city. The bucket on the loader became jammed in the top of a trailer. While trying to dislodge the bucket, Borcequin was crushed between the loader and the trailer.
He died at the scene.
Smith and Sons Meat Packing Co. released a statement Thursday afternoon calling the accident "tragic" and Borcequin a "valued and trusted" employee. According to the statement, Borcequin was known as "Moe" at the company. The company asserts in the statement that "the safety and well being of our employees" is its "greatest concern."
The Draper City Police Department, the Utah Medical Examiner's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
