So the weather is in the 60s this week. What better time to go ice-skating outside?
The skating rink at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City will open for the season Wednesday night, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The rink — officially called the Valda E. Tarbet Ice Rink — has been open since 2011, when the Gallivan Center was remodeled. The rink was moved east of its original location, and was made 40 percent bigger than the old rink.
Some 350,000 lights will be switched on at the Gallivan Center for the holiday season.
The rink is open noon to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 7 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $8 for adults, and $7 for seniors and children under 12.
