South Salt Lake police are asking the public's help in identifying a would-be business burglar.

SSLPD spokesman Gary Keller said Wednesday that the male suspect was caught on a video surveillance camera attempting to break into the East Coast Subs store at 3490 S. State Street, about 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 12.

The suspect arrived in a 1998-2002 model black Range Rover, got out of the vehicle, pulled a crowbar from his pants and then went to work on the store's back door.

After several failed attempts, however, the suspect — a balding white male with short dark-brown hair, wearing a black jacket and dark shirt and pants — gave up and drove away.

The suspect's was equipped with a push bar on the front, roof racks and a temporary license tag in his left rear window area.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call South Salt Lake police at 801-840-4000.
