A mob of deal-seekers trampled a woman at a Clinton Wal-Mart on Thursday night. The woman was unhurt, and nobody was apprehended.

Clinton police Lt. Dave Valentine said that around 8 p.m., store employees brought out a pallet of items — a store worker said they were tablets — and as they cut cellophane off, an estimated 200 people rushed forward to snatch the tablets. In the process, they knocked the woman over and stepped on her.

Valentine said they have six officers to assist with crowd control at the Wal-Mart until midnight. The parking lot is packed, he said.

He declined to give his opinion about the early Black Friday deals, but said that stores clearly require his department's assistance.

"They could probably actually use more [help]," he said.
