Fresno • The Utah State (8-5, 7-2) football team is expected to accept Sunday a bid to play at the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 26 against Northern Illinois (12-1).

A source with insight into Utah State's bowl picture said the Poinsettia Bowl was expected to announce it shortly after 2 p.m. MT.

In accepting the invite, the Aggies will go to a program-first third straight bowl. The opponent is a fierce one, as the Huskies narrowly missed a bid to a BCS bowl by losing the MAC championship to Bowling Green.

The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff to be televised on ESPN. The Huskies would be the second straight one-loss opponent for the Aggies, who lost 24-17 to Fresno State on Saturday night.
