The Sundance dramedy, "Calvary," is the latest festival film to secure a distribution deal.
The movie by John Michael McDonagh was bought by Fox Searchlight Films, according to Hollywood news services, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
In the film, Brendan Gleeson stars as a priest who is threatened by a confessioner and has one week to make peace with God and his family. The film was bought for $2.5 million, according to Variety.
Fox Searchlight also purchased the science-fiction film, "I Origins," for a reported $3 million, according to Variety. The film, starring Brit Marling, involves a biology student in eye evolution who falls in love with a woman.
Meanwhile, Zach Braff's Kickstarter-funded "Wish I Was Here," was purchased by Focus Features for about $2.75 million, according to both trade publications.
The movie stars Braff ("Scrubbs" and "Garden State") as a man dealing with issues in his life including his father, his wife and a failing acting career. Braff partially funded the movie through the Kickstarter website but received much criticism for it by those who felt the celebrity didn't need to use a crowd-funded resource to finance his film.
