Ogden • Weber State has scheduled a home-and-home football series with three-time defending national champion North Dakota State, athletic director Jerry Bovee announced Tuesday.

Weber State will play the Bison on Sept. 6 at Stewart Stadium. It will be the first home game for new coach Jay Hill. North Dakota State will also play the Wildcats on Sept. 12, 2015 in Fargo.

"We are excited and looking forward to this series," Bovee said. "It's an opportunity to have one of the finest programs in the country come to Ogden and we know it will be a great game for our fans."

The Bison finished 13-0 last season and won their third straight FCS national championship with a 35-7 victory over Towson State. It was North Dakota State's 24th straight win.

Weber State opens the 2014 season on Aug. 28 at Arizona State. After playing North Dakota State, the Wildcats visit Sacramento State (Sept. 13), Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 20) and Southern Utah in its Big Sky Conference opener on Sept. 27.

Sacramento State is a member of the Big Sky, but the game won't count in the league standings.
