The U.S. Olympic Committee would look into the bidding process for the 2026 Winter Games only after deciding about a 2024 Summer Games bid, CEO Scott Blackmun said."We are evaluating now whether we want to bid for 2024," Blackmun said Saturday, during the USOC's concluding news conference of the 2014 Games. "We are talking to a handful of cities, and if we determine that a 2024 bid is not in the interests of the Olympic movement in the U.S., we will look at whether a 2026 bid makes sense."Based on the International Olympic Committee's usual timetable, the awarding of the 2026 bid would occur in 2019.Salt Lake City clearly would a strong candidate for 2026, based on its 2002 success. - Kurt Kragthorpe
