Type • High-speed quad

Vertical rise • 1,500 feet

Number of runs • 15

Difficulty • Mixture of advanced and intermediate.

Why try it • Plenty of variety, including high-speed options, for experienced skiers and boarders.

The ride • The lowest lift in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Eagle Express is right off the lower end of Solitude's Moonbeam base area. Just put on your skis or boards near the end of the lot and glide down to the loading terminal.

Runs to try

Gary's Glade • A nice slope for picking your way downhill through scattered trees. Olympia, the next run over, is quite similar.

Sunshine Bowl • You can fly down this broad avenue, often groomed, or look for bumps down the right side as you're heading down.

Challenger • If speed is your thing, there's no better place on the mountain for picking up a big head of steam than on this black-diamond run, which plunges then funnels you back to the base.
