Saturday, April 19, is Record Store Day, meaning that every vinylphile in the state should be rushing to a local record shop to grab some great music.
There are more than 400 releases and re-releases this year, from the new Pixies album, "Indie City" — the band's first release since the early '90s — to, for some strange reason, a Skrillex cassette tape.
Not every store carries every release, so contact your favorite record shop to find out what is available.
Stores participating in the Salt Lake area include all Graywhale locations, Diabolical Records, Randy's Record Shop, RAUNCH, The Heavy Metal Shop, ReSpin Records. Other participating Utah shops are Music to the Max in Logan, Groovacious in Cedar City, Sgt. Peppers Music & Video in Moab, Imagine Peace Records in Orem and Jay's Records in Price.
Graywhale's Graywhale/photos/a.95122822170.85250.90334587170/10152297400572171/?type=1&relevant_count=1">University of Utah location also will host a number of events all day. Diabolical Records will play host to 12 local bands, including Koala Temple and Foster Body, starting at 2 p.m.
