Jim Boyce, who has been the boys' basketball head coach at Taylorsville the past four years, has accepted the same position at Highland.
Boyce was an assistant for retiring Highland coach Keith West before moving to Park City and subsequently Taylorsville as head coach.
Boyce said leaving Taylorsville was a difficult decision, but that he and his family had lived in the Highland area for 14 years. He considered West one of his mentors.
"Highland is one of the most storied programs in the state, and Keith West was one of my mentors," Boyce said. "It's a daunting task to fill his shoes. I'm excited and ready for the challenge."
West coached at Highland for 26 years, the last 15 as head coach. His teams won state titles in 2002, 2006 and 2011,
"I really loved Taylorsville, the parents and the school," Boyce said. "There were a bunch of jobs open, but this is the only one that would have gotten me out of Taylorsville."
