A Washington state couple were hospitalized Saturday after their biplane crashed in Bluffdale.

The couple were flying to New Mexico from Washington and were going to stay overnight in Provo, when their biplane lost power somewhere near Draper, said Bluffdale Police Cpl. Matt Schauerhamer. The husband spotted a field near Jordan Narrows in Bluffdale to land and brought the plane down, Schauerhamer said.

The plane had a rough landing, however, and flipped over. The couple, who are in their 50s, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Intermountain Medical Center, Schauerhamer said.

The Bluffdale Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
