More than 400 students representing 20 Utah high schools gathered at Utah Valley University in Orem on Tuesday for the annual Utah Digital Media Arts Festival.

The event featured hands-on learning activities as well as a competition, according to the news release.

Digital media students received awards for their work in categories that included Web design, 3-D graphics, stop-motion animation, video, 3-D animation, audio, two-dimensional animation, photography, vector graphics, raster graphics and T-shirt and poster design, the release said.

Industry experts and professors from UVU and Salt Lake Community College selected the winners.
