Draper • When a Whole Foods Market opens here on Friday, customers won't find a super-sized store like IKEA or Scheels down the street.

The new South Valley store, at 11479 S. State, is only 35,000 square feet — about the size of the more urban Sugar House location in Salt Lake City, Lydia Martinez, the store's marketing specialist, said during a recent tour.

"That was deliberate," she said. "We wanted it to feel like a neighborhood store."

There are a few other things that set Utah's fifth Whole Food Market apart from its predecessors:

Ice cream • This is the first Whole Foods Market in the country to have an in-house creamery where ice cream, ice cream sandwiches and sorbets will be made on site, said Martinez. More than 30 different flavors will be available on a rotating basis, including the signature "Draper Dandy," a vanilla-based treat mixed with caramel, pretzels, peanuts and chunks of brownies.

Juice • The Draper store is the only one in Utah that will have its own juice bar, where customers can get healthy drinks and fresh-blended smoothies made with Whole Foods' organic and pesticide-free produce.

Tea shots • The Draper store also is the first Whole Foods in the country to sell shots of finely ground rooibos tea. Martinez said the process is similar to what is done for coffee and espresso, but the tea "is caffeine free." It will be available at the juice bar.

Pickles • South Valley residents will be able to "pucker up" at their own pickle bar, supplied each day by Yee-Haw Pickle Company in Park City. Expect to find items such as Giddy Up Garlic and No Frill Dills as well as "some exclusive flavors," said Martinez. The pickle bar is at the end of the olive bar.

Funeral potatoes • Next time the family has a hankering for this classic Utah comfort food, just head to the hot bar where cheesy "funeral potatoes" will be available, along with other grab-and-go meals.

Birthday cakes • With so many children in the area, the South Valley store is beefing up its birthday cake offerings to help busy parents celebrate the big day.
