A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after his plane ran out of fuel Sunday morning over Southern Utah.
The pilot and his two passengers, all of whom were family, were flying from St. George to Hurricane in a Zenith Zodiac when the plane ran out of fuel, according to a Hurricane police news release.
The pilot spotted a grassy field near 870 S. 400 West in Hurricane and landed safely at 8:26 a.m., causing minimal damage to the plane and with no reported injuries to the passengers, according to the release.
"It is very fortunate the pilot was able to use his experience and find a location to land the plane safely," the release adds.
Besides the police, Hurricane Fire and Rescue and the Washington County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
