Going back to the days of NBA superstar Michael Jordan, the Bulls have always enjoyed success at EnergySolutions Arena.

The four-legged kind fared well Wednesday night, too.

Only three of the 11 cowboys competing in Round 2 of the $246,998 Days of '47 Rodeo completed their eight-second bull ride, although one of them claimed second place in the overall standings.

Clayton Foltyn of Winnie, Texas, scored 83 aboard a bull named Power Time to position himself for a big paycheck in Salt Lake City. With three rounds left, Foltyn sits behind leader Caleb Sanderson, who scored an 85 on opening night.

Others who completed their ride in the second round were Dalan Duncan of Ballard, Utah, and Tag Elliott of Thatcher, Utah. Duncan finished with a 77. Elliott ended up with a 71.

"It went all right," Elliott said. "The bull had an off-day. But it's always good to stay on. It is what it is."

Elliott has not won any rodeos this season and it's unlikely his 71 with be worth any money at the Days of '47.

Still, he looked on the bright side.

"I'm not hurt or nothing," he said. "I've been pretty healthy. The riding isn't going as good as I'd like, but that leaves room for improvement. So we'll go from here."

On Tuesday, Elliott turned 26.

"I went to Spanish Fork and fell off," he said. "So I had a bad birthday."

Elliott was two days shy of his 19th birthday when he drew a bull named Werewolf at the 2007 Days of '47.

After a head-to-horn collision, Elliott was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent 10 hours of surgery.

Numerous other operations and procedures related to his injuries followed during his recovery.

Elliott was sidelined from rodeo for 20 months, but he never considered quitting.

Elliott completed his amazing comeback in 2012, when he finished 13th on the regular-season money list and qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. In Las Vegas, he placed in two rounds and ended the season with $81,286 in earnings.

Last year, Elliott won at Fort Mohave (Ariz.) and West Jordan. He earned $39,080 and placed 30th on the season money list.

In other action from the second round of the Days of '47:

• Taos Muncey and Heith DeMoss took advantage of re-rides and grabbed the top two positions in saddle bronc. Muncey, the No. 1-ranked rider in the world, scored an 87. He is from Corona, N.M. DeMoss, who is from Heflin, La., posted an 85.

• In the tie-down roping, Shane Hanchey stopped the clock in 7.3 seconds and moved into tie with Cade Swor of Winnie, Texas, for the overall lead. Hanchey is currently No. 2 in the world standings with earnings of $62,620.
