New Deer Valley restaurant opens

Brass Tag, a restaurant that specializes in brick oven cuisine, recently opened at the Lodges at Deer Valley. The menu, created by executive chef Jodie Rogers and sous chef Ryan Swarts, includes house-cured duck and parma prosciutto flatbread, cheddar truffle chive spätzle, tandoori-rubbed quail, a chop of the day, oven fired chimichurri chips and wood-oven shrimp skillets. Entrées cost $10-$16; appetizers, salads and sides, $4-$9.

The Brass Tag name is tied to Park City's rich mining history, as miners used to check in and out of work using a brass tag. If a tag remained on the board at the end of a shift, everyone knew to launch a search. The brass tag theme is incorporated into the restaurant's décor, menus and merchandise.

Where • 2900 Deer Valley Drive South, Park City; 435-615-2410.

Hours • Open nightly for dinner from 5:30 to 9. Full bar 4 to 10 p.m.

Salt City Vodka now in stores

Salt City Vodka, a new corn-based spirit — and the first produced by Elevation Distillery in Midvale — is now available in state liquor stores across the state. The 750-ml bottle, which costs $19.95, has a blue and peach-colored label and showcases the Utah mountains and the Salt Lake City skyline. It includes the dome of the state Capitol, the top of the LDS Church Office Building and the spires of the LDS Temple.

"We wanted to highlight our favorite designed buildings in Salt Lake and give the bottle that feeling of awe when you look up at those gorgeous Wasatch Mountains that dwarf our humble city," said Elevation co-owner Aaron Ilott.

He and Jesse Farrer, both Utah natives and vodka lovers, became friends more than a decade ago and always dreamed of starting a distillery. Ilot said they attended distilling courses in Colorado and have invested their "life savings and then some" to launch Utah's sixth licensed distillery.
