Women's soccer • Megan Rapinoe scored just three minutes into the game, and the United States got three goals in the second half to beat Switzerland 4-1 Wednesday night.

Carli Lloyd made a penalty kick early in the second half, Christen Press scored in the 77th minute and Abby Wambach got her 168th career score in the 87th.

"We knew Switzerland would be a good challenge and we played good, up-tempo soccer," U.S. coach Jill Ellis said after improving to 2-0-1 since being officially named to the position. She was also 6-0-2 in two stints as interim coach.

Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute for Switzerland. It came on the Swiss' only shot on goal and ended Hope Solo's bid to set a new shutout record for the US women. Solo remained tied with Briana Scurry for the team mark with 71 shutouts.

Two New Mexico players quit amid hazing probe

Women's soccer • Two sisters have quit the University of New Mexico women's soccer team amid an investigation into possible hazing that sent two players to the hospital.

The university says freshmen twins Danielle and Devin Scelsi quit the team Tuesday following an incident Sunday that involved several players becoming extremely intoxicated.

University of New Mexico Athletic Director Paul Krebs said Wednesday that there's no question there was hazing by the women's soccer team and that alcohol played a role.

Krebs said no one was forced to drink, but because of peer pressure, officials consider it hazing.

NBA • In Coral Gables, Fla., seven people were charged Wednesday with trespassing at former Miami Heat player Ray Allen's home while his wife and four young children were asleep upstairs.

Police say 18- and 19-year-olds were attending a party next door when they entered throughout the front door of the unlocked Coral Gables home last week. Shannon Allen said she woke up, heard male voices discussing their personal property and saw the beams of large flashlights.
