A Sandy woman died and a man was critically injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash in Kearns.

Karen Sant, 24, was a passenger on a Yamaha bullet bike that was going north on 5600 West, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. About 10:46 p.m., a southbound Chevy Cruise turned at the 6200 South intersection, to go east, turning in front of a northbound Pontiac Grand Am that was ahead of the motorcycle, Hoyal said.

Moments after the Chevy and the Pontiac crashed, the motorcycle collided with one or both of the vehicles as well, the lieutenant said.

Sant died at the scene, while the motorcycle's driver, a 23-year-old man, was flown to the hospital in critical condition, Hoyal said. The man has since been stabilized at Intermountain Medical Center, he said.

A 53-year-old woman in one of the vehicles was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital in fair condition, Hoyal said. No one was hurt in the third vehicle, Hoyal added.

The Unified Police Department's accident reconstruction team is investigating the crash. Hoyal said officers found a helmet at the scene, but were still trying to determine whether the man or Sant was wearing it.
