This week's high school football schedule kicked off with two Thursday night games.

In a contest televised by KJZZ, Highland knocked off Northridge 28-6 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Thomas Pembroke, James Pembroke and John Hunter all scored touchdowns.

A surprising Carbon improved to 3-0 by winning 20-8 at four-time defending 1A champion Duchesne. The Eagles, who had won 48 straight games, dropped their second in a row.

Quarterback Jarod Lesser did most of the damage for the Dinos, throwing for 234 yards and one touchdown and rushing for 86 yards and scoring two other touchdowns. Carbon did not win a game last year.
