West Valley City police are looking for suspects in an attempted parking lot robbery that left a 52-year-old man with a slashed face.

WVCPD spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said police were called late Tuesday night by staff at Pioneer Valley Hospital after the man showed up in their emergency room.

Investigating officers learned that the victim, who suffered a knife wound to his left jaw, had just finished shopping at the Wal-Mart store, 3180 S. 5600 West, and had gotten into his car when two men approached.

Reaching through his open driver's side window, the men demanded money and tried to take his watch off his wrist. When the victim resisted, one of them cut him on the face.

The suspects then ran away, and the victim drove home, from where his wife then took him to the hospital for stitches.

"Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage, but initial review has not provided any suspect information," Vainuku said.

Still, anyone who may have information this case is asked to call WVCPD at 810-840-4000.
