Updated: 7:45 AM- A Salt Lake County man alleges his wife promised him a surprise -- but multiple hammer blows to the head is not what he expected.
The man told sheriff's investigators he was blindfolded, led into a Holladay condo's basement, spun around -- and wham.
He escaped with only minor cuts to his head. But he did call 911 -- and deputies say they arrested his wife about two miles away from the condo.
The woman told deputies a different version of what happened last Friday night. Investigators won't say how the husband's and wife's accounts differ because it's part of the investigation.
Still, after hearing from both people, deputies arrested the woman for aggravated assault and booked her into jail. She posted bail on Sunday.
