What was an ugly weekend for Utah has blossomed into a much more upbeat week thanks to some big recruiting news.

The Utes got a commitment from California athlete Chad Hekking on Monday night, and added to the 2015 haul with two new commits on each side of the ball, according to multiple media reports.

On Tuesday afternoon, three-star 6-foot-3 Haines City, Fla., linebacker Tavon Cox made his pledge, according to Scout.com. Cox retweeted the report from his Twitter account:

Tavon Cox, an OLB out of Haines City (Fla.) HS, just texted me and confirmed his commitment to #Utah. Very underrated.. @FerrogamoTavon

Later in the day, both Scout and Rivals reported that three-star 6-foot-5 receiver Caleb Repp from Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., also committed. He tweeted this from his account, seeming to confirm the reports:

Just committed lol #GoUtes pic.twitter.com/369nhDkJx8

It's a GREAT day to be a UTE. Trifecta. #KiYi #LightTheU #BabyKap

The recruiting victories for the Utes come on the heels of a bad loss to Washington State, but Utah apparently made enough of an impression to buy some faith in their out-of-state targets. Cox is a big-bodied defender who could make an impact, while Repp's height could help him become an ideal target in the receiving game. Click here to view Cox's Hudl film, and click here for Repp's.
