Cardinals • Arizona quarterback Drew Stanton said he has improved every day and is hopeful he will be cleared to play in the Cardinals' game Sunday against Washington.

Stanton sustained a concussion in last Sunday's loss at Denver. The status of quarterback Carson Palmer remains uncertain as he works his way back from an injured nerve in his throwing shoulder.

If Stanton and Palmer can't play, the start would go to rookie Logan Thomas.

Jets struggling with injuries

Michael Vick pointed the finger squarely at himself.

The New York Jets' backup quarterback was stunningly critical Wednesday when he acknowledged that he could've done a better job of getting ready to play last Sunday. The comments drew the ire of fans and the media — and kudos from his head coach Rex Ryan.

"I think the way I challenged the team, in fact, this is exactly what I wanted," Ryan said. "I want guys to take a stand."

Jets wide receiver Eric Decker was limited at practice for the second straight day, but Ryan expects him to be able to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Decker is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out last Sunday at San Diego, but was able to participate in some team drills Thursday, a good sign that he'll be able to face his former team.

Linebacker David Harris sat out practice with a shoulder injury for the second straight day, but Ryan is optimistic about his leading tackler playing.

Tight end Jeff Cumberland (illness) and safety Josh Bush (quadriceps) also did not practice. Wide receiver David Nelson (ankle), cornerback Darrin Walls (knee), center Nick Mangold (shoulder) and right guard Willie Colon (knee) were limited.

Top cornerback Dee Milliner (quadriceps) was a full participant after being limited Wednesday.
