Firefighters rushed to the scene of a garbage truck-related blaze in southeast Salt Lake County Thursday morning.
Unified Fire Authority Battalion Chief Brian Anderton said the truck was on its route emptying dumpsters when, about 7:30 a.m., the driver noticed smoke coming from the back of his rig.
He pulled over into a parking lot near 2100 East and 3900 South and emptied his truck, calling 911 to get help dousing two separate, smoldering piles of refuse.
Anderton said firefighters quickly extinguished the piles, which the refuse company planned to clean up and remove from the lot.
No one was injured and the truck was undamaged.
