Posted: 9:48 AM- OGDEN - Four Weber County Jail inmates have been charged with the sexual battery and hazing of two other prisoners.

Jail officials say they can't comment on the charges because the incident has led to a federal lawsuit against the jail.

The lawsuit claims officers declined to intervene.

Jesus Cuevas-Martinez, Armando Torres Mendez, Daniel Lee Moore and Alfonzo Moya-Breton are charged with the crimes.

Charging documents say the incident occurred on May 22. The four inmates face a September 11 pretrial conference before 2nd District Judge Pamela Heffernan.

One of the two listed victims says correctional officers watched the 30-minute incident and laughed instead of intervening. He filed a lawsuit August 8th in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City.

The suit filed by Salt Lake City lawyers Rob Sykes and Alyson Carter claims the inmates were threatened with rape and were in fear for their safety from eight other cellmates as they were "verbally harassed and sexually molested."
